Uganda’s energy landscape is evolving rapidly, with renewable energy playing a critical role in addressing growing electricity demand and supporting sustainable development. While Uganda’s installed electricity generation capacity has surpassed 1,400 MW, demand continues to grow by over 7% annually, creating an urgent need for diversified and resilient energy solutions.
Solar energy, in particular, presents immense opportunities. Uganda enjoys abundant sunshine, averaging 5–6 kWh/m²/day, among the strongest solar resources in East Africa. Although current grid-connected solar generation is estimated at 100–150 MW, the sector continues to expand through private investment and government efforts to achieve universal energy access by 2030.
Today, millions of Ugandans, especially in rural communities, still rely on off-grid and decentralized energy solutions, positioning solar as a transformative pathway for economic growth and energy inclusion.
In recognition of this growing potential and the need to strengthen partnerships across the renewable energy sector, we are pleased to invite you to attend the Power Energy & Solar Uganda Expo
Date: Thursday, 21st May 2026
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Venue: Multi-Purpose Hall, UMA Show Grounds, Lugogo, Kampala, Uganda
